Ms. Eva Chan

Miss Chan is an experienced psychiatric nurse. She was graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She read her Master Degree in Health Promotion at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine with the scholarship from Croucher Foundation. Moreover, she continued her professional training on Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Nursing at Hospital Authority, Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong University, Behavioral Sleep Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, Cognitive Therapy at Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy & Research, and Recovery of Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Yale University along her clinical practice.

 

She has made contribution to develop nursing competencies as framework for staff training and development at Hong Kong Hospital Authority. She advocated the case management model at Community Psychiatric Nursing and was one of the key members to initiate deinstitutionalization projects at local mental hospitals in line of the international service trend. She is also innovative to set up a psychiatric nurse clinic which emphasizes on cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia. It is the first of its kind at Hong Kong and obtained local accreditation.

 

In addition, she is a frequent speaker at seminars, universities and international conferences. She was awarded with Outstanding Presentation Award at the 12th Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists Scientific Meeting and Award for Excellent Scientific Achievement at World Psychiatric Association Regional Meeting. She received twice the Certificate of Appreciation by The Governor of Hong Kong and Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China as well.

 

She previously worked as Nurse Consultant in Community Psychiatry and led teams with multi-disciplines to provide mental health care in the community. Her key roles include direct clinical care with quality assurance & development, staff training & development, clinical research and networking & provision of consultancy to the public.

 

Currently, she is the Consultant on mental health care of various non-government organizations, Fellow and Council Member of the Hong Kong College of Community Health Practitioners and Member of Committee of Med-Health at Great Bay Area to promote health at the Great Bay Areas of Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macau. She also often acts as guest lecturer for various universities and organizations, including Social Welfare Department of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
